Menstrual Phases

Have you ever scrolled through social media and stopped when you saw a post on the menstrual phase? I’m sure most of us have at one point! And some of us, might not know what that means! That's because talking about your menstrual cycle seemed taboo in the past. But with time these topics have become a norm! That’s why we’re here to clear the air and make more room for these conversations.

Let’s get into the four phases of the menstrual cycle. It’s vital to know these phases to understand your body and what it’s going through. These phases include menstrual, follicular phase, luteal phase, and ovulation.

  • Menstrual: This is between days 1-6 when the shedding of the uterine line takes place. During this phase, you want to make sure that you are taking extra care of yourself and listening to your body. Make sure that you get the proper rest, eat well, and exercise.
  • Follicular: This is between days 7-12 between the first day of the period and ovulation.
  • Luteal: This is between days 13-20 when the uterine lining builds back up after the period.
  • Ovulatory: This is between days 21-28 when the egg is released from the ovary. The ovulation phase is when you are most fertile!

These phases are the best way to understand what your body is going through. The more you know, the better you can prepare and take care of yourself.
