Mary Reinvented the Sanitary Pad

Let’s take a moment to recognize Mary Beatrice Kenner, an African American woman, who, in 1954, patented an updated version of the sanitary belt. Kenner’s improvements included adding adhesive to pads, which then eliminated chafing and irritation and could be adjusted to fit women of all sizes!
Mary was known as one of the women that revolutionized menstrual pads.
If we’re being honest, pads are one of the most widely used menstrual sanitary items. It’s because of great minds like these, we are able to further reinvent, and as she previously said, “Every person is born with a creative mind…”
Thank you, Mary Beatrice Kenner, for not being afraid to chase what you believe in.
